Lumilay

Software that keeps workingwhen you stop watching it.

Lumilay is a software studio in Tallinn. It has made a native macOS library that notices when a saved file moves, and an assistant that stays quiet until something is worth saying.

I wanted software that tells me when something is wrong and otherwise leaves me alone. Most tools do the reverse.

Principles

Four decisions that hold across everything Lumilay makes.

  1. 1.0

    Native, not wrapped.

Swift and SwiftUI on macOS 14. No runtime; nothing in the interface is a web page.

  2. 1.1

    Nothing rots quietly.

Files are referenced in place, never copied. A moved file says Missing instead of pretending.

  3. 1.2

    Silence is an output.

Plikka messages first only when something warrants it. Most days, that is never.

  4. 1.3

    Data stays legible.

One readable JSON file, written atomically. Deleting an account takes every record and file with it.

Work

Plikka

A proactive assistant, reached the way you reach a person.

It watches mail, calendar, reminders, weather, news and location, and messages first only when something warrants it. It acts on real accounts, not suggestions. One voice from three layers: a thinker that never speaks, a speaker with no tools, and a formatter that decides only the shape of delivery.

Keepin

A native macOS library for the things you save.

Links, files and notes on one board; files are referenced in place, never copied. Sync and AI enrichment run through Lumilay’s own service on Cloudflare. Signing in with a Google or GitHub account, or an emailed code, does one thing: it creates and signs in to a Lumilay account so a library can follow its owner between Macs.
